New to the Blogroll

Auto Date Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

I’ve added some other blogs to the blogroll (and some I’d added some time ago, but I wanted to highlight them in case they were missed).

Small Things Considered is a great microbiology blog. Pharmalot has daily updates on the latest business wheelings and dealings in the pharmacuetical and biotech world, which goes along quite nicely with Baby Biotechs. What You’re Doing is Rather Desperate is a good bioinformatics and computational biology blog. It has great stuff on the latest web technologies, too.

Small Things Considered has a great post reviewing a fascinating paper on a possible bacterial mitotic spindle. In one of the lab projects for a class this past semester, we were studying bacterial mitosis and chromosomal segregation, and one paper that we were given to read was by Suckjoon Jun and Bela Mulder on the entropic separation of bacterial nucleoids, which gives one of the other prevailing hypotheses on how bacteria divide and segregate their chromosomes.
