Not to offend robot designers, but a lot of robotics tends to be more deterministic, and less stochastic. Sure, there's noise and stochastic processes in terms of chattering, feedback circuits, image processing, and so on, but in terms of the concept of robotics, we try to make them as deterministic as possible.

On the other hand, biology is much more random; ordinary differential equations only go so far in terms of describing biology, for example. I think the signal to noise ratio is much less in biology than robotics.</description>
